SUPERIOR, Wis. – The St. Scholastica women’s track & field team broke three school records and five meet records at today’s Border Battle, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
All three CSS relay teams won their events and broke meet records. The 4x800-meter relay team of
Nikki Hughes (
So.-South Range, Wis./Northwestern),
Emily Dunning (
Jr.-Superior, Wis.),
Katherine Mueller (
So.-Brainerd, Minn.), and
Tara Connolly (
Sr.-River Falls, Wis.) also broke the school record with a winning time of 10:02.13 seconds.
Connolly also broke meet record and won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.67 seconds.
Jackie Thelen (
Fr.-Randall, Minn./Little Falls) set a school and meet record in the 55-meter hurdles preliminaries with a time of 8.95 seconds.
The third school record was broken by
Alec Seeley (
So-Cadott, Wis.) in the shot put. Seeley broke her own record with a distance of 38’-10.5” (11.85m) to finish third in that event.
The Saints took up four of the top five spots in the 400-meter dash with
Stacey Peterson (
Sr.-Gilbert, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert) leading the way in second with a time of 1:00.62 seconds.
Jennifer Plaetz (
So.-Lucan, Minn./Wabasso) was second in the 200-meter hurdles with a time of 31.28 seconds.
Rachel Miller (
Fr.-Hinckley, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson) also finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 34’-11” (10.64m).
The Saints will be at home next weekend when it hosts the Lake Superior Challenge in the Burns Wellness Fieldhouse. Multi events will take place on Friday night, starting at 6 p.m. with the rest of the action taking place on Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m.
