Saints Athletic ClubThe College of St. Scholastica’s Athletics Department has the goal of becoming a nationally known NCAA Division III sports program. This goal reflects our deeply held view that strong and successful sports teams benefit everyone associated with the College. Each time one of our teams is nationally ranked or in a national tournament, our college’s name is read by people across the country and associated with excellence. The positive image generated by winning teams frequently is the first impression prospective students and their families have of our school. Winning teams give alumni and current students a source of pride and “bragging rights.”

For the student-athletes themselves, a successful team experience greatly enhances their time at The College of St. Scholastica. A network of coaches, friends and teammates is created as soon as the students arrive on campus for their first year. That network helps the student athletes make the social and academic adjustments needed to succeed in school and in life. The department is proud of the fact that the four-year graduation rate and the semester-to semester retention rate of student athletes are always higher than those of the general student body. Winning the 2006 Jostens Cup, given to the Division III school with the best record of community service in the nation, is the result of our efforts to enhance the College’s national reputation through athletics.

It is our commitment to keep our athletics program the best in the league and competitive with the best in the country. Our teams will always be a positive reflection of St. Scholastica’s past, present and future. We have taken many steps to strengthen our foundation and we are prepared to move forward. One step is the Saints Athletics Club, an organization dedicated to connecting supporters of CSS sports with each other and with current student-athletes while also generating the resources needed to supplement the Athletics Department’s traditional budget. As the College grows, there will always be widespread need for additional resources. The success of the Saints Athletics Club will allow the Athletics Department some degree of independence as we fund initiatives we consider
essential for our future growth.

When joining the Saints Club, you may enter at any of the following levels:

As well as receiving the Weekly Sports Update, supporters at all levels receive a booster club window decal and game program recognition.

Blue/Gold members and above will receive a t-shirt, game program recognition and a calendar.

Beginning with the Captain level, supporters will have access to a weekly question-and-answer e-mail report from the head coach of the sport of their choice.

MVP members and above receive two passes to the department’s summer golf outing as well as two complimentary tickets to the senior recognition banquet.

All-American and Coaches club supporters will gain access to post contest receptions with players and the athletic director’s dinner.

And finally, Coaches and Champion club supporters will see their names painted on the Pillars of Support within the Reif Center.

Corporate Sponsorships are also available. Contact Athletic Director Don Olson for more information.

Members of the Saints Club will have three options as to where their support will be applied.

 1. Designate a specific team. We realize that for many former student-athletes ties to their former team are very strong and they will want to ensure that team’s success.

2. Designate the athletic director’s operational fund. This pool of money will be used on projects that benefit more than one team.

3. Contribute to the Athletics Department’s endowment, which is a restricted part of the College’s overall endowment. Established in 2005, the department’s goal is to create an endowment large enough to generate earnings which can buffer all our teams from institutional budget cycles. A gift to the endowment will allow your contribution to continue supporting our programs throughout the years.
