DULUTH, Minn. – The College of St. Scholastica
Athletics Department announced on Thursday, the 12th class that will be inducted into its Hall of Fame in October.
The 2023 class includes a pair of All-Americans, men's hockey Walt Aufderheide and women's basketball Stacy (Pelletier) Deadrick. As well as the first Saint to qualify for multiple skiing NCAA Championships, Men's Nordic Skier Jeremy Hecker, and two staples in the CSS athletic department longtime Baseball Assistant Coach,
Tim Anderson and former Director of Athletics, Don Olson.
The College of St. Scholastica will induct its 12th class into its Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday, October 14 as part of Homecoming at the College.
Tim Anderson – Baseball/Service – 1992-Current
Anderson played for the Saints from 1989-1992, he was an honorable mention All-Region pitcher for the Saints in 1992 and also started at second base. Upon graduating, "TA" joined Johns Baggs' coaching staff in '92 as a graduate assistant coach. He became the top assistant in '94 and quickly became one of the region's most respected baseball coaches. Today, TA has been assisting the baseball program for just over 30 years, the current longest-tenured assistant coach in school history. The team created the "
Tim Anderson Academic Award" given to a Saint who best displays academic excellence in the classroom each season. He was inducted into the CSS Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999 and in 2003, Anderson was the recipient of the UMAC Person of the Year Award. Anderson has coached nine All-Americans and eight UMAC Players of the Year, 18 All-Region performers since 2010 and Kyle Flagstad, who was a D3baseball.com All-American in 2012. He was a part of the program's NAIA Regional Tournament Championship in 2000, 21 NCAA/NAIA Tournament appearances, 23 consecutive UMAC Regular Season championships, and 20 UMAC Tournament Championships.
Walt Aufderheide – Men's Hockey – 1978-81
Aufderheide was the Saints goaltender from 1979-81, he was an AHCA College Division All-American and NAIA All-American in 1980, he was also named to 1978-79 NAIA All-Tournament Team. Aufederheide is tied for the single-season program record with 18 wins (1978-79) and is one of only two goaltenders with 900 saves in a season (1978-79) and has over 30 career wins throughout his career. He is also a twice-named team's Most Valuable Player (1978-79 & 1980-81)
Stacy (Pelletier) Deadrick – Women's Basketball – 1987-91
Pelletier was a First Team NLCAA All-American in 1990 and is a two-time NAIA First Team All-District selection. She was a starter on the 1987-88 NLCAA National Championship team. That team was inducted into the CSS Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012. Pelletier finished her playing career at St. Scholastica as the leader in steals (436) and currently ranks fifth in assists (265) and 11th in scoring (1,036 points). She would then go on to be the head coach for the women's basketball program for 27 seasons until 2021, where she is currently employed at CSS as the Assistant Director of Athletics of Facilities and Event Management/Senior Women's Administrator.
Jeremy Hecker – Men's Nordic Skiing – 2010-13
Hecker became the first skier to qualify for multiple NCAA Championships in 2012 and 2013, in the 2013 NCAA Skiing Championships 20km Freestyle race, he held a program-best 11th place finish (until 2014). He became the first two-time All-Conference honoree (2011 & 2012) in program history. More of Hecker's accolades include becoming the program's first All-CCSA (1st Team) honoree, two-time All-CCSA (2nd Team) honoree, Two-time All Region, holding the most program top-five CCSA finishes, most program top-5 finishes in a single season (5, 2012), and most program top 10s in a single season (6, 2012).
Don Olson – Director of Athletics – 2008-17
Olson spent nine years as the Athletics Director at the College of St. Scholastica, which is currently tied for the longest-tenured AD in the department's history. In his time leading CSS Athletics, the Saints captured eight straight UMAC Kruse Awards (All-Sports Trophy), 40 teams reached the NCAA Tournament, 104 teams won conference regular season championships and 48 teams won conference tournament titles. The Saints saw its first NCAA Division III National Champion in women's cross country's Chelsea Johnson in 2013. Olson chaired the UMAC Membership Committee and served as a key part of the UMAC Executive Committee, he also chaired the NCAA Division III Men's Hockey Championships committee from 2012-16.
