All-UMAC Baseball Teams

Kyle Flagstad (Hinckley, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson HS) was named the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Baseball Player of the Year for the second consecutive season and
Austin Colvard (Little Canada, Minn./Roseville HS) was named the Rookie of the Year; it was announced on Friday.
CSS led the conference with six first team All-UMAC choices and it also had a pair of honorable mention choices. The Saints won the UMAC regular season championship for the 17th straight season and the tournament title for the 16th consecutive year. The Saints were amongst the final three teams and were two games away from a NCAA Regional Championship for the third straight year.
Five of the six Saints named to the first team were seniors. Along with Flagstad,
Jake Casareto (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS),
Kyle Jensen (Wyoming, Minn./Forest Lake HS),
Andy Schwantes (Lakeville, Minn./Apple Valley HS (Minn.-Duluth)) and
Michael Swenson (Scandia, Minn./Forest Lake HS) were named to the first team. Colvard, a freshman, was named the league's Rookie of the Year and also named to the first team.
Flagstad, who was named first team All-UMAC for the third straight year, finished second in the conference with a .391 batting average, 36 RBIs and led the league with 20 stolen bases, .616 slugging percentage and 52 runs scored. He finished tied for the program record with 19 career triples. He is only the fourth player in program history to have a career batting average of .400 as he finished at .401.
Flagstad is the first two-time UMAC Player of the Year since Josh Wettlaufer in 2003 and 2004. He ended his career reaching base in his final 21 consecutive games.
Casareto is named to the all-conference's first team for the second straight year after being named an honorable mention choice in his sophomore season. Casareto led the UMAC with a .393 batting average and 39 RBIs. He finished second in the league with three home runs and 72 total bases. Defensively, he led the conference with 115 assists and 23 double plays.
Jensen is named first team All-UMAC for the third straight season. He did not allow an earned run in conference play and was fourth with a 1.53 ERA overall. He was fifth in the UMAC with 46 strikeouts. Jensen will finish with the fourth-best career earned run average in program history at 2.01.
Schwantes is named to the conference's first team for the first time in his career after being named an honorable mention choice last season. Schwantes finished third on the team with 23 RBIs and tied for second on the team with seven doubles.
Swenson earns first team All-UMAC accolades for the first time in his career. He finished with a 5-0 record and a 1.93 earned run average. His five wins ranked third in the conference. He finished his career with a 14-1 record.
Colvard becomes the first CSS player to be named UMAC Rookie of the Year since Adian Kummet earned the honor in 2006. Colvard led the conference with 55 hits and fourth in the league with 60 total bases and 11 stolen bases. His 43 runs scored were second-best in the UMAC.
Junior
Thomas Rogers (Cloquet, Minn./Cloquet HS ) and sophomore
Padraic Getchell (Stillwater, Minn./Stillwater HS (North Dakota) ) were named honorable mention All-UMAC. Rogers earns honorable mention all-conference honors for the second straight season. He led the conference with nine saves and had a 1.96 ERA in 23 innings. His nine saves broke a program record for saves in a season and he already is the program's career leader in saves (15) with one more year remaining.
Getchell earns honorable mention laurels in his first year in a CSS uniform. Getchell tied for second on the team with seven doubles. He also made seven appearances on the mound and went 1-0.
Cory Ferm of Bethany Lutheran College was named the UMAC Pitcher of the Year and Martin Luther College's Randall Cox was named the league's Coach of the Year.
