UW-La Crosse Qualifier Results
LA CROSSE, Wis. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's and women's track & field teams set a total of five program records this week at a pair of last chance meets and positioned two more competitors to be in contention to being selected for next week's NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships.
North Central Gregory Multi's
On Tuesday and Wednesday,
Kevin Wagner (Cleveland, Minn./Cleveland HS) and
Emily Schwantke (Brook Park, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson HS) competed the Gregory Multi's, hosted by North Central College. Wagner put together a great two days and positioned himself well for qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Championships next week.
Wagner accumulated a program-record 6,332 points to move up to 10th nationally. He is currently the top-ranked freshman in the nation. Wagner finished fourth overall at the meet and had six personal-best marks/results out of the 10 events he competed in.
Schwantke placed 11th in the heptathlon with 3,512 points. Schwantke recorded personal-bests in the 200m dash and the 100m hurdles.
UW-La Crosse Qualifier
On Thursday night in La Crosse,
Nicole Christianson (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) broke her own program record in the high jump, clearing a height of 5'6” (1.68m). That mark is currently tied for 12th in the country with 10 other athletes. Christianson should be right around 20th when everything shakes out.
Becky Huberty (Lena, Wis./Lena HS) would destroy her own personal record and break the program record in the hammer throw with a toss of 184'2” (56.13m) to win the event. That mark s currently the third-best in the nation this season.
Danielle Dickson (Roseville, Minn./Totino Grace HS/Roseville HS) broke the program record in the long jump, placing eighth with a leap of 17'7.5” (5.37m).
Charlie Habermann (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) broke his own program record in the 3,000m steeplechase, finishing in a time of 9:35.14 placing second overall.
As of right now, it looks like the Saints will have Huberty in the hammer throw and shot put,
Rachel Miller (Hinckley, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson HS) in the triple jump, Christianson in the high jump and Wagner in the decathlon. However, there are a few more meets to take place Friday around the nation.
