Four Saints Earn UMAC Accolades

ST. PAUL (csssaints.com) – A pair of St. Scholastica track & field athletes, along with a pair of tennis players have been named Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Athletes of the Week in their respective sports; it was announced on Tuesday.

Travis Ambuehl (Lake Linden, Mich./Lake Linden-Hubbell HS) was named the Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week. Ambuehl was one of three Saints to break a program record at the Snowshoe Open on Friday night at the University of Minnesota. Ambuehl broke his own program record in the pole vault, clearing 14'10.25” (4.53m).









Becky Huberty (Lena, Wis./Lena HS) was the Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this indoor season. Huberty placed fifth out of 49 competitors in the shot put at the University of Minnesota Parent's Day Open on Saturday with a mark of 42'4” (12.90m). Huberty was also sixth in the weight throw with a toss of 50'1.75” (15.28m).









James Mack (Portsmouth, England/Cams Hill School) was named the Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season. Mack went undefeated in both singles and doubles play this weekend as the Saints improved to 5-0 with a pair of wins. Mack handily won his singles and doubles matches at the No. 2 flight on Saturday against Hamline University. He then played at No. 1 singles and doubles Sunday at Concordia College-Moorhead and pulled out victories in both of those matches as well.








Hillary Bungarden (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) was named the Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season. In two singles matches over the weekend against Hamline and Concordia, Bungarden dropped just one game at the No. 1 spot to remain unbeaten in 2013. Bungarden also won at No. 1 doubles twice winning 8-2 against Hamline and 8-0 against Concordia.
