MINNEAPOLIS – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team captured its 14th straight Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Postseason Tournament championship on Saturday by winning all nine flights and accumulating 27 points at the Baseline Tennis Center.

In doubles action on Friday night, the Saints swept all three doubles flights. The No.1 team of #Callee Conda# (Jr.-Hibbing, Minn.) and #Danni Sonnenfeld# (Jr.-Harris, Minn./North Branch) won its semifinal match over North Central 8-1. The team then took the title with an 8-3 victory over Martin Luther.

The No. 2 team of #Katie Motley# (Sr.-Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert) and #Kelly Ross# (Sr.-Buffalo, Minn.) won 8-1 over Bethany Lutheran in the semifinals and then had an 8-3 triumph over Northwestern to take the title. This is the fourth doubles title for Motley and the third for Ross. Motley also breaks the program record for doubles wins in a career with 68 victories.

The No. 3 team of #Megan Carlson# (Sr.-Pine City, Minn.) and #Angela Shields# (Sr.-Pengilly, Minn./Greenway) blanked Northwestern in the semifinals 8-0 and followed that by blanking Martin Luther 8-0 for the championship. This was the third straight title for Carlson at the No. 3 flight.

In singles action on Saturday, the Saints swept all six flights. At the No. 1 flight, Katie Motley (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) won her semifinal match 6-1, 6-0. She would just lose one more game in the championship match, winning 6-1, 6-1. This is the fourth singles title for Motley.

At the No. 2 flight, Callee Conda (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS (UW-Green Bay))  shut out her opponent in the semifinals and then took the championship 6-3, 6-2. Danni Sonnenfeld (Harris, Minn./North Branch HS) did lose a game on her way the No. 3 flight title defeating both of her opponents 6-0, 6-0. This is the second straight singles titles for both Conda and Sonnenfeld.

At the No. 4 flight, Kelly Ross (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) won her semifinal match 6-0, 6-1 and won the title match 6-1, 6-1. Angela Shields (Pengilly, Minn./Greenway HS) won 6-0, 6-0 in her semifinal match and won 6-1, 6-1 to take the No. 5 flight championship. This is the third singles title for Shields

#Katie Marcella# (Jr.-Virginia, Minn.) took the No. 6 flight title, winning her semifinal match 6-1, 6-1 and then captured the championship 6-4, 6-2.

The Saints will now have to await their fate for their fourth straight NCAA Division III Tournament appearance. The tournament selections will be announced on Monday.
