WOMEN’S TENNIS ENDS FLORIDA TRIP ON A HIGH NOTE

ORLANDO, Fla. – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team finished its spring trip with a 7-2 victory over Franklin & Marshall College (Pa.) on Friday.

The Saints improve to 5-6 this spring and 6-6 overall. CSS finished 2-3 down in Florida.

The Saints took all three doubles matches on the day. The No. 1 team of #Callee Conda# (Jr.-Hibbing, Minn.) and #Danni Sonnenfeld# (Jr.-Harris, Minn./North Branch) won 8-3. The No. 2 team of #Katie Motley# (Sr.-Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert) and #Kelly Ross# (Sr.-Buffalo, Minn.) won 8-5 and the No. 3 team of #Megan Carlson# (Sr.-Pine City, Minn.) and #Angela Shields# (Sr.-Pengilly, Minn./Greenway) had an 8-2 victory.

In singles action, Callee Conda (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS (UW-Green Bay)) won her eighth match on the year with a 6-0, 6-4 triumph. Danni Sonnenfeld (Harris, Minn./North Branch HS) and Kelly Ross (Buffalo, Minn./Buffalo HS) at No. 3 and 4 singles, respectively, won tight matches with Sonnenfeld winning 5-7, 7-5, (11-9) and Ross coming out on top 1-6, 6-4, (10-8). #Katie Marcella# (Jr.-Virginia, Minn.) was the final winner on the day as she prevailed at the No. 6 position 7-5, 6-3.

The Saints will return to the Midwest and dive right into Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action next Friday when it travels to face Northwestern College.
