ITA Division III Rankings
DULUTH, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women's tennis team finished 17th in the Central Region, while #Ploy Suthijindawong# (
Fr.-Bangkok, Thailand/Duluth Central) finished ranked second nationally and No. 1 regionally, according to the final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III rankings that were released yesterday.
This past spring the Saints made their third straight NCAA Tournament appearance and won their first-ever NCAA tournament match with a 5-3 victory over Luther College (Iowa) in the first round. CSS also won its 13th consecutive Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Regular Season and Tournament championship.

So.-Hibbing, Minn.), from Hibbing, went 19-5 in singles action, #Katie Motley# (
Jr.-Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert), of Eveleth, went 14-9 in singles and 19-8 in doubles. #Angela Shields# (
Jr.-Pengilly, Minn./Greenway), of Pengilly, had a singles record of 13-6 and #Natalie Urick# (
Jr.-Virginia, Minn.), of Virginia, was 15-10 in doubles play. #Lynnae Wilke# (
Sr.-Parkers Prairie, Minn.), from Parkers Prairie, was 12-6 in singles action.
Freshman
Ploy Suthijindawong (Bangkok, Thailand/Duluth Central HS) became the first Saint to qualify for the NCAA Division III Singles Championships. She made it all the way to the Championship match before falling. For her efforts, she became the first NCAA All-American in program history and finished second in the national singles rankings, while jumping to first in the central region. Ploy went 27-3, including winning 23 consecutive matches at one point. The 27 singles victories are a CSS single-season record.
