The Division-II and regionally ranked Michigan Tech Huskies ended the Saints' season-best win streak of six wins in a row with an 8-1 win in Houghton, Mich., over St. Scholastica on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Angela Shields (Pengilly, Minn./Greenway HS) picked up the lone win for CSS with a straight set, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) win at No. 6 singles, a victory that pushes her current unbeaten string to six matches in a row.

The No. 1 doubles tandem of Paula Beckermann (Spicer, Minn./New London-Spicer HS) and Katie Motley (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert HS) almost picked up another Saints win but fell 9-7 to their Husky opponents, ending a five-match win streak for the sophomore pair.

The loss moves St. Scholastica's season mark to 14-6 while Michigan Tech, riding a four-match win streak and looking at an NCAA D-II national tournament bid, is now 16-6 with the home win.
