Engelstad improves to 2-0 in singles play

LAKEVILLE, Minn. – The St. Scholastica men’s tennis team suffered a narrow defeat to Hamline University on Sunday afternoon, falling 5-4 at Lifetime Fitness Center.
CSS dropped to two of the three doubles matches with the No. 3 team of
Kevin Hilpert (
So.-Stillwater, Minn.) and
Tim Dean (
Jr.-Rhinelander, Wis.) coming out on top 8-4.
In singles action,
Jacob Engelstad (
So.-Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln) at the No. 2 spot won for the second consecutive day with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph. Kevin Hilpert came out of his match at the No. 4 position on top with a 7-6 (7-0), 4-6, (10-8) victory. The final win by the Saints came from Tim Dean at No.6 singles as he rallied to win 3-6, 6-1, (10-7).
The Saints drop 0-2 this season, while the Pipers improve to 1-1.
The Saints will be in action next in two weeks when it hosts St. John’s University at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 20th in the Burns Wellness Fieldhouse.
